In a world where everything and everyone is overexposed, the coolest thing you can do is to maintain your mystery and Mexico is indeed the land of magic and mystery.

“We both share a similar perspective towards life and firmly believe in doing what makes us happy. And nothing has given us more joy than travelling.”
Day 1
We flew with Swoop airlines and had to catch our flight from Hamilton Airport. We landed in Cancun around 10:30 am local time and were picked up from the airport by a shuttle service run by Yes Car rentals from where we had rented the car for our stay in Mexico. Yes Car rental had great reviews and offered competitive pricing along with a comprehensive insurance package. We strongly recommend renting your own car for all your travel rather than getting a cab every time you want to move around. Driving in Mexico is extremely safe and should not be an issue as long as you are adhering to all the rules and regulations.
After getting our car, we drove down to Tulum which was close to a 2 hour drive and checked in our eco resort - Coco Tulum. The resort is really pretty with earthy old style cabanas amidst the lush green Tulum jungle and a nice beach bar serving up creative cocktails and lip smacking tapas.

The big disappointment in Tulum was that we could not get in the water due to a lot of sargassum (weed). During the day we just chilled at the beach side bar and then went out for dinner at night - the resort is right in the middle of the most happening stretch of Tulum so there are plenty of dining options. However all the places are slightly on the expensive side so in case you have budget constraints then you drive down to Tulum town (a 10 min drive from the resort) and can eat really cheap (and yummier) street food.

Day 2
We started our day really early and left for Valladolid to visit Cenote Suytun which is close to 2.5 hours drive from Tulum.
We spent an hour at the Cenote and then drove down to Chichen Itza, which is one of the most visited archaeological sites in Mexico.

You can get a lunch buffet along with the entry ticket but we would not recommend as the food was not that great. Also when you enter, there will be a lot of tour guides if you want to get a full tour of the ruins. We opted for not going with the guide as we were not going to spend a lot of time at the ruins as the heat was unbearable.
We returned back to our resort and just spent the rest of the afternoon lazing around. If you want to experience the Tulum sunset, you can check out Azulik for a exotic mayan experience
We initially were planning to go to Azulik but the lady at the front desk of our resort told us about this amazing rooftop sunset bar ‘Ciel Rose’ which offered the best sunset experience in Tulum and is not even close to being as expensive as Azulik.

When we reached there, we were informed that the bartender is not coming in hence the place will be closed, however the owner was super sweet to let us go up to the rooftop and chill by ourselves. The bar has a cute rooftop terrace with a very hip and relaxed vibe.
Day 3
We checked out from Coco Tulum early in the morning and went straight to Cenote Calavera which was a 20 minute drive. It was such a nice experience as you can jump in the cenote and the water temperature is perfect. If you love a little bit of adventure then we highly recommend this cenote. You will have to go early if you want to get some alone time to enjoy and click pictures.

After spending almost 2 hours at Cenote Calavera, we left for Playa Del Carmen. We had booked an airbnb for one night which was simply fabulous. We had the whole apartment to ourselves, which was right in the middle of all the action and just a couple of blocks from the busy Fifth Avenue. The apartment has a rooftop pool where you can spend the afternoon just chilling. The only drawback is that there is a nightclub next to the apartment building but to be honest we could not hear a things and slept like babies. In the evening we just walked around on Fifth Avenue, shopped a bit and had tacos and quesadillas from a local restaurant. We could not spend a lot of time at the beach because of sargassum and just spent our evening roaming around in the city.

Day 4
We checked out of Playa Del Carmen after having our breakfast and left for Cancun.
We checked into our airbnb room in Cancun which was simply out of this world.
The place had a private beach with the most amazing view from the room.

After resting a bit, we left for Isla Mujeres - a small and hip island just an hour ferry ride from Cancun. The Punta Sam ferry dock was right next to our place which was extremely convenient.

Isla Mujeres was just BEAUTIFUL with crystal clear blue waters and white sandy beaches. We rented a golf cart and went around exploring the whole island. This island has a lot of cute cafes/pubs/eating joints to explore and has a very relaxed & laid back feel which we absolutely loved. If you have time then we recommend to stay in this island for a night or two.
Day 5
We started the day early as we had booked a Catamaran Tour in Cozumel. We had to drive back to Playa Del Carmen to catch the ferry to Cozumel. The catamaran sail included snorkelling, swimming in shallow waters, and unlimited drinks and snacks - it was fun but was slightly expensive ($240 USD for 2 people).

In case you want something cheaper with a more intense snorkelling experience then we recommend just booking a snorkelling tour at the Playa Del Carmen ferry dock. There are lots of good options available for as cheap as $60 USD per person. Below is details of all the awesome reefs to snorkel in around Cozumel. After our Catamaran tour, we just spent the rest of the day exploring Cozumel.
Day 6
We just spent the morning relaxing at our private beach in Cancun and then checked out in the afternoon. We drove to Cancun city for brunch and then headed to the airport to catch our flight back to Toronto.
